Skin
resurfacing lasers have made a huge resurgence in popularity
in the past 3 years. Older methods with grueling recovery
processes made the laser technology companies recognize the
need to develop kinder ways to achieve the kind of results
patients expected.
We have used the ActiveFX in our office for
the last few years. It is an excellent "light" laser for
reducing and blending pigmentation, smoothing fine wrinkles
and smoothing out skin texture.
Most recently we've added the DeepFX - a "big
brother" to our ActiveFX laser. The DeepFX reaches further
into the skin to depths that create a more
significant change in collagen structure.
We can now zero in on the deeper wrinkles
that are notoriously hard to treat above and below the lips.
With DeepFX, we see a stronger tightening effect and with
the higher power capabilities, we expect to see impressive
reduction of acne scar depth.

Combining DeepFX with Active FX (as in the photo above)
gives us the tools to resurface and actively affect collagen
behavior at dual levels for a more comprehensive result.

Downtimes for the DeepFX
or the combination DeepFX/ActiveFX are normally only a dew
days with some expected swelling and redness.
Swelling and redness are "good things" with laser
treatments. They are part of the process in forcing
the collagen growth.
Medically effective lasers always carry some post procedural
response as the skin goes through the healing process. Some
skin bronzing and exfoliation are part of the regenerative
process as old skin cells are shed so that new ones can take
their place. Temporary residual pinkness can be easily minimized with
the application of a powdered mineral makeup.
